PHYSAN 20™ is a broad range disinfectant, fungicide, virucide, and algaecide which effectively controls a wide variety of pathogens on hard surfaces and plants. Its applications include greenhouses, hard surfaces, lawn and turfgrass, seedlings and cut flowers, decorative fountains, pools and birdbaths, and plants.

Experienced growers know Physan 20 is an effective control of fungi, algae, bacteria and viruses. Use it as a general disinfectant for cleaning tools, benches, planter trays, contaminated pots and soil. Excellent for controlling bacteria and fungi on seeds, seedlings, cuttings and ornamental plants.

Physan 20 can also be used to control algae in greenhouses, decorative ponds (TOXIC TO FISH!) and birdbaths. Or use it to treat a variety of diseases affecting lawns, turf and grass, including fairy ring, dollar spot and toadstools. NOT intended for use on food crops. Most applications require less than 2 Tbsp per gallon of water. Biodegradable.

Algae Control: Home Gardening And Landscaping:

Physan 20 can be used to control algae and other pathogens on inanimate surfaces including bricks, walls, walkways, pots and tools. Mix up a solution of ½ ounce per gallon of water. This solution can be sprayed or applied to walls and walkways to treat and inhibit algae growth. For heavy infestations a repeat application may be needed. The solution can also be used to disinfect gardening tools and pots.

Physan 20 For Use With Fountains, Birdbaths, And Decorative Water Displays:

PHYSAN 20 is effective at controlling algae and odor in fountains, birdbaths, swimming pools and decorative water displays.

PHYSAN 20 is simple to apply, and safe around birds, mammals and plants.

WARNING: PHYSAN 20 IS TOXIC TO FISH! It should not be used in the presence of fish.

Mixing and application directions:

Initial Dose: Add 1 teaspoon PHYSAN 20 per 52 gallons of water (I ounce per 312 gallons of water) to achieve a concentration of 5 parts per million.

Weekly Dose: Add 1 teaspoon PHYSAN 20 per 104 gallons of water each week to maintain a concentration of 2-3 parts per million.

Note: PHYSAN 20 should only be used in contained water displays that recirculate, not in ponds, estuaries, or other bodies of water that could drain into fish bearing waters.

Physan 20 For Algae Control On Walkways:

PHYSAN 20 is effective at controlling algae on bricks, cement, walkways, walls, statuary, stucco, and other hardscape surfaces.

PHYSAN 20 will retard algae growth for a 10-14 day period after it is applied. Reapplication every 10-14 days is recommended to prevent algae recurrence.

Mixing and application directions:
USE: 1 Tablespoon PHYSAN 20 in one gallon of water. For heavy infestation, spray or swab. Let stand for one hour or more. Brush and wash away dead algae. Soak area again with PHYSAN 20 solution. Do not rinse. This product will inhibit the growth of algae on walkways. Allow to dry on surface, and repeat whenever algae growth returns.

Physan 20 For Use On Hardscape Surfaces

PHYSAN 20 is effective at controlling algae on bricks, cement, walkways, walls, statuary, stucco, and other hardscape surfaces. Physan 20 For Use In Hydroponic Systems

Physan 20 Greenhouse Disinfectant can be used in a variety of hydroponic applications to:
1. Prevent the development of disease
2. Kill algae that may form on system surfaces and substrates

Please remember that Physan 20 is a liquid concentrate, which must be extensively diluted for hydroponic applications. This means that in some cases, only a drop or two of the concentrate will be required in a volume of water to create the correct dilution. Do not be tempted to use more Physan 20 than directed and always measure when mixing. NEVER estimate by eye the amount you add to water.

Cleaning Hydroponic Systems Between Crops

Physan is an excellent product to use to clean and disinfect your entire system between crops. Physan can be used on plastics, metal, and glass surfaces, and is safe to run through delicate pumps and meshes.

TO USE: Mix 1 Tablespoon Physan 20 in a gallon of water to create a disinfecting solution. This may be used to apply directly to hard surfaces via a spray bottle or clean sponge. The wet surface should be scrubbed if visible dirt or algae are present. Make sure the surface remains wet for 10 minutes to ensure killing of all organisms Physan 20 is capable of killing. You may also run this dilution through your hydroponic system to clean and disinfect it.

Physan 20 contains a foaming agent. At this dilution, you may notice foaming if you run the product through your system and you run aeration. This foam is harmless. If it is particularly bothersome to you, you may add a commercially available de-foaming agent.

Please note: The Physan 20 instruction booklets state that Physan should not be used in “irrigation systems”. This wording refers only to OPEN irrigation systems that dump water that might be treated with Physan 20 into ponds, lakes, or any fish bearing water. Physan 20 is toxic to fish. It coats their gills and interferes with their breathing. This wording is provided by the U.S. EPA and we are not permitted to change it. However, hydroponic systems are considered CLOSED irrigation systems that do not endanger fish. Physan 20 can be used in this closed system.

Algae Control on Rock Wool and other Substrates

Physan 20 can be used to treat rock wool and other growing substrates to eliminate algae both between crops and in the presence of plants. You must use different dilutions for each of these applications.

TO USE ON ROCK WOOL/SUBSTRATES BETWEEN CROPS TO TREAT ALGAE: Make a dilute solution by adding 1 Tablespoon of Physan 20 to a gallon of water. Soak the cubes in this solution for 10 minutes. Remove cubes and let dry. Do NOT plant in the cubes for 7 days. This allows for a complete kill of algae and a breakdown of the Physan 20 active ingredients so that tender plants are not harmed upon planting.

TO USE ON ROCK WOOL/SUBSTRATES ALREADY PLANTED TO TREAT ALGAE: Make a dilute solution by adding 1-1/2 teaspoons of Physan 20 to a gallon of water. Put in a sprayer bottle and spray the surface of the rock wool substrate where algae is present. Let the sprayed surface remain wet for 10 minutes. You may also use this same dilution to spray the entire plant as well as the affected surfaces for complete pathogen control. If algae persists, apply again in same manner in 7 days. Measure carefully and DO NOT increase the concentration of the Physan, as crop damage can occur.

Adding Physan 20 to Nutrient Solutions

Adding Physan 20 to organic nutrient solutions may reduce or negate completely the algae and pathogen-killing capabilities of Physan 20. As Physan 20 is pH neutral, its addition will not change the pH of the nutrient solution. However, it should be considered that tender root systems are potentially at risk from a continual bath of Physan 20 solution. Because we cannot know what type of plants you are growing and what nutrients are being used, we can give no guidance as to the combining of Physan 20 with nutrients.

Physan 20 as a Foliar Spray for Pathogen Control

Physan 20 can be applied to plants as a foliar spray to control pathogens. However, it is NOT an insecticide and will not kill aphids, mites, scale, or pests of this sort. Physan 20 leaves no harmful residue if foliage is dried and smoked.

Physan 20 For Use With Potted Plants

ulbs immediately after they are “cleaned” and treat again immediately before planting by soaking them 10 minutes in PHYSAN 20 solution to control fusarium basal rot. Air dry.
USE: 1 tablespoon PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 1 gallon of water.

Cactus - Bacterial Leaf Spot, Root Rot and Top Rot
For rotting of underground parts by fungi and bacterial leaf spot or rot of the tops, sterilize seeds and disease-free cuttings by dipping in PHYSAN 20 solution for 5 minutes before planting. Spray at 10-14 day intervals.
USE: 2 tablespoons of PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 3 gallons of water.

Cactus - Slimy Collar Rot
Just before planting, dip entire plant in PHYSAN 20 solution.
USE: 2 teaspoons PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 1 gallon of water.

Calendulas, China Asters, Chrysanthemums, Crape Myrtle, Dahlias, Lilac, Live Oak - Powdery Mildew
Spray with PHYSAN 20 solution when symptoms appear. Spray upper and lower surface of leaves and branches with PHYSAN 20 solution until thoroughly wet. Spray when buds burst in Spring and repeat in 2 weeks. Spray with PHYSAN 20 solution every two weeks during mildew season. Also, spray Live Oaks at bud break and again in April.
USE: 2 tablespoons PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 3 gallons of water.

Carnations - Canker Rot, Carnation Rust, Crown Rot, Gray Mold Rot, Leaf Spots, Root Rot, and Stem Rot.
For Rust, completely immerse cuttings in PHYSAN 20 solution before planting. For Gray Mold, apply PHYSAN 20 solution 1-2 times just before bud bloom. Apply a light mist spray as the flowers are opening. Carefully collect and burn infected buds, blossoms, and stems.
USE: 2 teaspoons of PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 1 gallon of water.

Crassula, Kalanchoe, and Sedum - Crown Gall, Crown Rot, and Root Rot.
Destroy infected plants or plant parts and drench the remainder with PHYSAN 20 solution. Spray plants weekly to assure solution getting around and in the base of leaves.
USE: 2 teaspoons of PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 1 gallon of water.

Fuchsia, Gardenia, Geranium, Heliotrope - Bud Rot, Gray Mold and Stem Rot.
At the first sign of disease, pick off and burn infected leaves and blossoms; spray, mist, or fog weekly as needed.
USE: 2 teaspoons of PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 1 gallon of water.

Hawthorn (crataegus) - Leaf Blights
After a very wet Spring, small reddish brown spots appear on the upper surfaces of leaves. When spots are numerous, leaves drop. Make 3 spray applications: First, as soon as the leaves emerge from the buds; then when leaves are half grown; and again when fully grown.
USE: 2 tablespoons of PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 3 gallons of water.

Hawthorn, Hollyhock, Snapdragons - Rust
Spraying for protection should begin with the development of new leaves following Winter cleanup or dormancy. Spraying should begin before the onset of the rainy season. Be sure the undersides of infected leaves are covered by PHYSAN 20 spray solution. For hollyhocks, apply at weekly intervals. Start as soon as growth begins. Repeat applications in late Summer. For snapdragons, collect and burn the tops in the Fall. Avoid sprinkling the foliage while indoors. Apply PHYSAN 20 solution at 7-10 day intervals. Start when plants are set in the garden.
USE: 2 teaspoons of PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 1 gallon of water.

Iris - Botrytis, Crown Rot of Iris, Gray Mold and Rot on Rhizomatous Iris
Treat all new rhizomes before planting with PHYSAN 20 solution. Submerge rhizomes and 3 to 4 inches of leaves for 30 minutes. Plant at once (while still wet with PHYSAN 20 solution)
USE: 2 tablespoons of PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 3 gallons of water.

Iris - Botrytis Leaf Spots
Circular spots, yellowish, then light brown with red border. Spray weekly while plants are growing.
USE: 2 teaspoons PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 1 gallon of water.

Orchids - Adult Plants
Spray anytime disease other than rot (see below) is evident. Spray once per month as preventive maintenance. Soak compost when fungus is evident.
USE: 2 teaspoons PHYSAN 20 per gallon of water.

Orchids - Botrytis
During cool damp weather, spray plants, flowers and under benches at first sign of the spotting on flowers. Normally weekly spray will greatly reduce or eliminate the botrytis spotting.
USE: 1 teaspoon PHYSAN 20 per 3 gallons of water.

Orchids - Crown Rot - Phaelenopsis
Spray plants weekly to assure solution getting around and in base of leaves.
USE: 1 teaspoon PHYSAN 20 per gallon of water.

Orchids - Dividing Plants
Remove compost, then soak plant for 2-5 minutes in PHYSAN 20 solution. Operate with wet hands and cutting tools. After division and root trip, soak divisions in PHYSAN 20 solution 2-5 minutes. Pot in compost dampened with PHYSAN 20 solution.
USE: 1 Tablespoon PHYSAN 20 per gallon of water.

Orchids - Rot (such as Erwinia)
Remove compost from plant, then soak entire plant 10 minutes or more. Cut away all rot with treated tool. Soak plant wounds again for 10 minutes. Repot in PHYSAN 20 soaked compost.
USE: 1 Tablespoon PHYSAN 20 per gallon of water.

Palms - Heart Rot and Penicillium Leaf Base Rot
At the first sign of rot, completely fill cup, or "heart” formed by palm branches at top center of plant. Repeat every 7 days until controlled.
USE: 2 tablespoons PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 3 gallons of water.

Roses - Brown Canker
Use regular spraying. Application should begin in early Spring as soon as new growth starts and should be made often enough to provide protection throughout the rainy periods and to keep the new growth covered. On the average, an application once a week will be needed from early Spring until plants are dormant.
USE: 2 teaspoons of PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 1 gallon of water.

Roses - Black Spot, Powdery Mildew, Rusts and Stem Gall
Spray with PHYSAN 20 solution when symptoms appear. Spray upper and lower surface of leaves and branches with PHYSAN 20 solution until thoroughly wet. Spray with PHYSAN 20 solution several times, 7 to 10 days apart.
USE: 2 teaspoons of PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 1 gallon of water.

Rubber Plant - Anthracnose on Leaves and Stems, Crown Gall on Stems
At the first sign of disease, pick off and burn infected leaves, spray, mist or fog weekly with PHYSAN 20 solution as needed.
USE: 1 teaspoon of PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 1 gallon of water.

Saintpaulia (African Violets) - Bud Rot , Crown Rot, Downy Mildew, Gray Mold Rot (Botrytis), Powdery Mildew and Root Rot.
Dip plant and pot in PHYSAN 20 solution. Spraying is okay, but complete coverage of all surfaces is important. Spray every 10 days until controlled.
USE: 1 tablespoon PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 4 gallons of water.

Snapdragons - Anthracnose, Downy Mildew, Phyllosticta Blight, Powdery Mildew, Rusts, Stem Rot, and Wilts.
Spray with PHYSAN 20 solution when symptoms appear. Spray upper and lower sides of leaves until thoroughly wet, every 7-10 days. Collect and burn the tops in the Fall.
USE: 2 teaspoons of PHYSAN 20 concentrate in 1 gallon of water.

PHYSAN 20 (128oz)
